Get the new (2008) Shimano Stradic, preferrably size 2500.
it comes with a spare spool which basically will mean you have two 2500 reel, it's just that you can't use them at the same time. (which you cannot achieve anyway)
Stradic has got most new technical features as the new Stella, the functions, outlook, AR-C spool, screw-in power handle. good value and price.
most popular size is a 4000, but i just personally think 4000 is a somewhat embarrassing size, just a little too big for repetitive casting, and just a little too small when the water gets too deep, and way too big for fresh water species. plus when the size reaches 4000, it starts to lose delicacy, versatility and a bit harder to maneuver.
so, yea, my recommendation is Stradic 2500. It is the reel of the year with iCast award and New Zealand has got a relatively competitive price compare to Australia.
